The satellite system, promoted as a humanitarian tool, has proven crucial for frontline coordination and drone warfare<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>US Presidential Envoy for Special Assignments Richard Grenell has urged SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to provide free Starlink access across Iran so that his \u201cfriends\u201d<\/em> can have uninterrupted \u201c<\/em>access to information\u201d<\/em><\/em>\u00a0amid an escalating Israeli bombing campaign against Tehran.<\/p>\n \u201cCan you turn on Starlink for free in Iran for the next few weeks, @elonmusk? My friends inside Iran don\u2019t have regular access to information right now. I\u2019ll chip in a donation and I think others would, too,\u201d<\/em> wrote Grenell, the former acting Director of National Intelligence, in a post on X.<\/p>\n Musk has not yet responded to the request, at least not publicly. The billionaire previously said that the \u201cbeams are on,\u201d<\/em> indicating the service is technically available \u2013 although accessing Starlink requires a special satellite dish to receive and transmit signals.<\/p>\n
