The economic bloc is rolling out joint projects in energy, aerospace and AI, the Russian president has told SPIEF<\/strong><\/p>\n

BRICS countries have launched large\u2011scale joint projects in nuclear power, aviation, AI and other sectors, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.<\/p>\n

The economic group is \u201csetting the bar in the development of so-called human-centric industries,\u201d<\/em> Putin noted, speaking on Friday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.<\/p>\n

The group is mobilizing \u201cmajor projects to improve the living environment\u201d<\/em> and \u201cimplementing large-scale initiatives in nuclear energy and aviation, in the field of new materials and the IT industry, in robotics and artificial intelligence,\u201d<\/em> the Russian president said.<\/p>\n

BRICS was initially established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2010. In 2024, the bloc extended full membership to Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and, later, Indonesia. Over 30 more nations have applied to join the group.<\/p>\n

The collective trade turnover of BRICS nations has \u201calready exceeded a trillion dollars and continues to grow,\u201d<\/em> Putin told a SPIEF plenary session.<\/p>\n

The Russian leader underlined the platform\u2019s core principles \u2013 consensus, parity, mutual interest, and openness \u2013 saying it will strengthen as more countries join.
<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cRussia invites partners to contribute to shaping a new global growth model, to jointly ensure the prosperity of our countries and the stable development of the entire world for many, many years to come,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s global challenges require a global response, Putin stressed.
<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSolving problems alone, especially at someone else’s expense, is simply impossible \u2013 it is an illusion. Only joint actions within an organization such as BRICS and some other formats can ensure the movement of the entire civilization forward,\u201d<\/em> the president told the gathering.<\/p>\n
