Tehran says Rafael Grossi\u2019s \u201cbiased report\u201d has helped justify Israel\u2019s attack<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iran has accused International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi of distorting facts in a past report that led to Israel\u2019s military strike on Tehran\u2019s nuclear facilities, calling it a betrayal of the agency\u2019s mandate.<\/p>\n

In a statement<\/a> posted on X on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei accused Grossi of issuing a \u201cbiased report\u201d<\/em> that was used by the US and three European countries to pass a resolution with \u201cbaseless allegations of non-compliance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In a report earlier this month, Grossi stated that \u201cIran is the only non-nuclear-weapon state in the world that is producing and accumulating uranium enriched to 60%.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

However, in an interview with CNN on Tuesday, the IAEA chief said UN inspectors have not found any evidence that Iran was undertaking \u201ca systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is too late, Mr. Grossi,\u201d<\/em> Baqaei said, referring to Grossi\u2019s comments to CNN. Baqaei said the report \u201cobscured this truth\u201d<\/em> and was \u201cinstrumentalized\u2026 to craft a resolution\u201d<\/em> that was later used by a \u201cgenocidal warmongering regime\u201d<\/em> to justify \u201can unlawful attack\u201d<\/em> on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities.<\/p>\n

Grossi\u2019s report last week prompted the UN nuclear watchdog\u2019s board to declare Iran in breach of its non-proliferation duties for the first time in 20 years. Nineteen of 35 IAEA member states backed the motion, including the US, UK, France, and Germany, citing Iran\u2019s failure to explain undeclared nuclear material and growing uranium stockpiles.<\/p>\n

Iran rejected the decision as \u201cpolitical\u201d<\/em> and said it will build a new enrichment site.<\/p>\n

Russia has argued that the \u201cbiased, anti-Iranian\u201d<\/em> resolution paved the way for Israel\u2019s attacks against the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n

Baqaei said Grossi \u201cbetrayed the non-proliferation regime,\u201d<\/em> demanding accountability and warning that \u201cmisleading narratives have dire consequences.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

West Jerusalem has justified its ongoing attacks by claiming that Iran is on the brink of obtaining nuclear weapons. Tehran has denied the accusations, maintaining that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, US Senator Mark Warner, the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said US intelligence agencies have not seen any evidence that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons \u2013 a position unchanged since their last report in March.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
